Happy scraps

I can not show you the project I'm working on but I can show you my scraps and leftovers instead.

I was wondering what can I do with the smallest one. I took the Mini Hex N More ruler and tried half hexagon but unfortunately it wasn't big enough so I went with triangles instead.

Even the triangle did not fit on to some so what shall I do with those?

I paired them with some grey leftovers and made bunch of HSTs (2").

Using up scraps seems my latest thing. It is better to have them ready for next project rather than put them away. I already have some ridiculous projects on mind so we'll see when I get a chance to make them.

Aren't these just pretty? Tiny means cute :)

Elephant scraps

I finish 4 last blocks for my Elephant parade wall hanging.

It's time to put these together and piece the top. I'll probably move to floor since my batting on the wall is not big enough or I should say not wide enough.

The colors are a bit off.

I ended up with pile of scraps and I didn't want to put them into drawer. I fused them to interfacing and they are ready for pouches or mug rugs or for whatever. We'll see.

Girlie bags

My girl was invited to 5th Bday party of her friend plus she shares her Bday with another preschool friend so I decided it's time for some girlie bags. Some of you might remember Barbie bag I previously made.

I used the same pattern I made up which is pretty similar to this one. The front and back panels looks like that. I used Disney Princess curtain which I bought some time ago.

I added a bit of hand stitching on the star around each princess.

There is small pocket inside. No zippers, eeek. I ran out of time and went with simple and quick finish. I was so happy to see how the bag was well received.

Le Challenge - wood

It's that time of the month! Le Challenge!

When I have too many ideas or none at all I turn to Google and search for pics. When I typed the word WOOD I got a lot of wooden floors.

I also go for classic combos like linen and leather or B&W variation. I sewed the zipper in first and added the leather pieces later on. I used french knots to attach them.

I would definitely recommend to use pliers for pulling the thread through leather. To be honest I'm not so thrilled with the result. The knots are uneven and the whole thing is little wonky due to stretching material.

On the other hand it was fun to just create for the beauty of creating. That is exactly what I like about Le Challenge. Just create something on the given theme.

I ran out of linen so the back is bit funky but still matches well with the zipper.

For those who like to peak inside.

That's it. All done. The next theme is SINGLE. No idea since I prefer to make stuff at last minute, lol.

Scraps in progress

Just a quick check-in. I had few triangles left from my Pantone project so instead of putting those into drawer I made two panels. I  used up all the remaining scraps and these more probably become pouches one day.

To give you idea of the size I took a pic on my cutting mat. Which is 60x40cm. Unfortunately no matching zippers, lol.

Plus I done some prep work for two more birds.

Do you have a scrappy project on your own? Don't forget to link up with Scraptastic Tuesday.
Plus it is time for Le Challenge - the theme is WOOD. I haven't started my project yet. Have you?

May goal

My goal for May is to DO EPIC SHIT! Muhahaha, doesn't that sound epic enough?

Last couple of weeks have been pretty rough and silly jokes might be the way to deal with it. While browsing through the web I stumbled upon the above pic and it feels like exactly what I need to do.

Besides that I would like to piece this top. I need to do at least 4 more blocks, add some eyes and make it the right size. That's it. I'll keep you posted.

Winner = Judy

It is time to announce the winner of my April's giveaway.
I used Random Number Generator and it says 53 which is Judy! Congrats!

Judy said she would like some zipper pull. I haven't made any in a while.

Will I use leather or skulls? Or something totally different? We'll see :)

I have no idea and it'll be surprise for both of us.

I would like to thank you for all your comments. It's been fun to read and it's great to know some of you collect minis as I might just make some during the year and I don't really have use for them. I'm sure I also have some spare pouches around so I either do another giveaway or something. Who knows :)

PPM 2015

April was pretty good month. I managed to sew more, blog more and one of the highlights was Prague's Patchwork Meeting.

It was my third visit. It starts on Friday and goes on till Sunday. I visited on Saturday, probably the most busy day but I didn't mind. I take the train and enjoy the whole thing as a trip. I went to see the quilts and take pictures first. Then I met up with my friends and I had some fun time. I done some shopping too which I already shared.

I started with section A which was Architecture Challenge. Those were the ones that caught my eye.

Plus this one. I thought that was really fun idea and I liked the touch of hand quilting in it.

That's the winner.

If I'm not mistaken. This is section B - International Thread (maybe E as I'm not sure). Anyway who doesn't love monochromatic sorting? I do!

There are two names that I noticed last year already. Barbara Lange and Uta Lenk. I truly admire their quilts. I have to admit I feel like total dummy since I told Uta how I love her Monochromatic quilts but those were made by Barbara. Oh well :)

Moving on to section C - Kaffe Fasset, Brandon Mably.

I do like some of their fabrics and quilts but mostly they are a bit psychedelic for my taste and their wild color combos are way to much to handle for my OCD color sorting :)

Section D - Radiation. There were really some amazing pieces there as well. I might share some more separately.

There were also few sections I was totally not interested in. I told myself I won't even take pictures because why would I? No one wants to sort and show pics of things they don't really like.

Section L,M was for Grandmother's garden challenge. I believe that this one won. It looked really well. I especially like the addition of circles in it.

Section N - Czech quilts. This is the one I liked the most.

Section H - EPM 2014 Imagine. That's another piece by Barbara. You can check some of the other quilts on EPM website here. Some cool stuff as well.

I have more pictures so maybe I'll do Part No.2, we'll see.

May is going to be about Ice Hockey as the World Championship just started and we are the hosting country. It's hard to pass. BTW we are just loosing 1:3 with Sweden. Damn! :)

Linking up with Finish it up Friday since I'm totally finished.
