Where did June go?

As usual I felt like I have everything under control. That was the very beginning of June.

I started new job.
I finished my quilt top in time for the blog hop but all of the sudden someone stole my June!

I missed Le Challenge - theme Single. BTW I was going to do SINGLE fold binding on mug rug or something :)

I'm going to miss my ALYoF goal again and the link for FAL Q2 finishes is already open.

The good thing is I don't really stress out about it.

Life happens and I'm feeling pretty good :)

The highlight of June was definitely the number of likes on IG when Fat Quarter Shop shared my pic :) I also appreciate all your lovely comments. THANK YOU!

Delectable Mountains Blog Hop

Have you seen the Fat Quarter Shop series called Classic & Vintage?

Well this time around they are using Delectable Mountains quilt block. You can find the FREE block pattern here.

I hardly make classic blocks but this one caught my eye and I decided to challenge myself and participate.

I asked my friend Monika for help as I wanted to set it off center. She kindly provided me with coloring page. If you would like one yourself go to my google doc here.

I like to switch between cutting and sewing so I was making blocks by colors.

I also wanted to show you that you can play with the background fabric as well. I hope you see the potential.

Do not worry. Not all the blocks have perfect points and I had to redo 3 last blocks since I was not happy with my fabric choice. See for yourself.

Here are useful links where you can find all you need to make your own version:

Have you noticed there is one purple block lighter? I bet you didn't, lol.

My gang was asking me if I ran out of the other fabric. Nope. I wanted to make it more interesting. Just something that will make you wonder :)

Are you wondering? Mission completed!

If you would like to see close up of the fabrics used, please check out my scrappy post here and here.
These are mostly local no brand fabrics.

Thank you Fat Quarter Shop for your fun hop!

Scrappy WiP

Playing out with scraps. First a bit random layout. Nope.

Second try. Better but not right.

Oh no, OCD mode. I was left out with some scraps and that was definitely not my plan so I slept on it. I added few squares today and started over.

That's probably final version. No need to spend more time on it. Those squares are 2" so there won't be much left once sewed together anyway :)

I'm also working on eyes for all the animals from Elephant parade. These seems all right.

This one is a GIANT eye but it made me smile. I'll adjust that for sure.

Thank you for clarifying how to call these black things I'm using for eye pupil. I'll call them sequins from now on :)

May/June goal

My goal for ALYoF remains the same as for May. To piece the top of Elephant parade together.

I definitely succeed on the "Make Epic Shit" goal but it is something I could not link up.
I quit my job and I already found a new one which I started on June 1st. Yay! I'll keep you posted how is that going. I don't want to get too excited. I'm happy about that change that's for sure.

I also pieced quilt top together. First one this year! I'll share more about that soon.

I felt so behind with my feed but I'm all caught up. I realized I don't need to leave comment on every post I'm reading. Sometimes I simply do not know what to add or how to respond.

I haven't managed to look at the quilts at Bloggers' quilt festival yet. I seen the posts coming but there were more important things to do. I didn't have any quilt to submit this time around.

That pretty much sums up my May.

Back to my project. I decided I'll make the eyes for parade out of spangle. That is one giant French knot on spangle you are looking at, lol.

I have never heard the word spangle before so I hope my dictionary doesn't lie. Do you really call these things spangle?
