Love mini

One more finish from my FAL Q4 list is this mini. That makes it 2/5.

Plus my sewing space got some updates. I did go through my drawers but more sorting is required.

I made decision to have no visible binding on front side. I left overlapping fabric to create binding at the back.

I have no idea what this technique is called.

I used local pearl cotton which I have in many color shades. It is called Perlovka.

I'm not sure if my binding method was good idea and I'm little pissed that the embroidery is not well centered. You know those doubts when you finish something.

For those curious souls it ended up 6x9".

  1. It looks like you did some variation of a faced binding. :)

  2. I often do a backing like this. It looks great. On small quilts I use chopsticks to hang with.

  7. This is gorgeous! I've been admiring it just a lot! The bind is like a knife edge binding, I just added that type of binding on one of my mini's. This is the tutorial I use:

You did an amazing job on this...don't sweat the small things...like centering...it's beautiful!

  8. I think it looks great, and if it’s minutely off center it certainly isn’t obvious! I love all those French knots.

  9. I would think it's called a variation of facing?! Whatever it looks amazing. I love it and see no reason why it has to be centred either! Beautiful work and gorgeous finish Vera!

So cute! It never crossed my mind that it wasn't centered. It looks good to me.

  13. Vera, I want to hug you. Thank you for sharing your sewing room, so neat and tidy. I should send you a photo of mine, right next to the kitchen.
I want to make a little Love mini too. Yours is so sweet. With two grandbabies now, I guess I need to make two.

  14. I am not sure what this binding method is called either, but it looks really effective here and gives a wonderfully neat finish. Nice work, Vera.

  16. Put away those doubts; that mini is love-ly. I'm amazed at how one immediately sees "love" in the shapes. You've "faced" the quilt. There are probably many sources of info on the technique, but Jean Wells has some excellent instructions for several ways to do it in her book "intuitive color &design". Not that you need it. Your edge looks perfect.
